Song cover

This is the first single from my upcoming album “Meet Me on the Front Lines.” The song came to me on August 27, 2024.

I recorded it on June 9, 2025 at Forty-one Fifteen in Nashville, Tennessee with my producer Cory Halterman and my studio band.

This song is a one-take recording, meaning Cory set up a bunch of microphones and recorded us playing it in one room together live.

I absolutely love how this song came out and it’s the best representation of where I’m headed with my music. Live takes, full band, as analog and as high-quality as possible. All for you.

And I rode the whale outside of town And Mona Lisa sat on my shoulders And cried for the wasted years And I watched the waves collide And I saw your blue eyes dry from the tears you got from me No I do not choose to fight No I do not wish to fight But if you choose to fight, I will fight Nobody came when you called But don’t lay it at their feet Because I am you and you are me tonight And I laid down my lullabies And I laid down my sacrifices When the earth was formed I was there And I jumped the tracks at the ballgame And I climbed the fence just to get a sneak peek Down your shirt that night And I drove my car outside of town To the strip where the planes fly And I cried like a child Nobody came when you called But don’t lay it at their feet Because I am you and you are me tonight Nobody came when you called Nobody came when you called Nobody came when you called tonight And I rode the whale outside of town And Mona Lisa sat on my shoulders and died credits
